STUDY & SERVE WINE WITH SAFRA

Enter the professional world of wine and learn the systematic way to taste, describe, evaluate and recommend wines in marketable ways. Gain the skills and knowledge on providing wine service, as well as wine and food pairing.

It is a comprehensive foundation course to the professional world of wine. It introduces the learner to a systematic way to taste, describe, evaluate and recommend wines in marketable ways. Participants will receive a Statement of Attainment (SOA) in WSQ Study and Serve Wine upon programme completion.

The objectives of the programme are as follow:

  • Describe basic factors affecting wine style, flavor, quality and price.
  • Apply basic techniques to taste, examine and evaluate wines.
  • List major grape varietals and their characteristics.
  • Recommend wine in marketable ways.
  • Identify major wine producing countries and regions.
  • Pairing wine with food.
  • Identify various considerations related to the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Present, open, decant and serve different types of wine.

  • Secondary Education (Secondary 2) or WPLN Level 4.
  • Be able to speak, read and write English
  • At least 16 years old or 18 years old for modules with alcohol / spirit modules.
  • Enrolment is subject to availability and incomplete applications will not be processed.
  • The programme is conducted in English and proficiency in the language is a requirement.
  • Programme contents and all prices are subject to change.
  • Required Attire:
    - White collared shirt (No see-through, sleeveless, revealing, designs or patterns)
    - Black Pants (No jeans, leggings, jogging or cargo pants)
    - Black covered shoes (No slippers, high heels or sports shoes)
    - As per the Academy's grooming policy, hair / head accessories such as caps, hats or any other headgears are not allowed.
  • Failure to comply to grooming standards will result in non-participation.
