See you in Asia
THE EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

The culinary art, as traditionally practiced by the chefs of the Old World, is a skill that is a personal mastery perfected by the master chef. Today, it has even become a science - one of chemistry, physics and nutrition. Just as the Old World way was through apprenticeship, the New World way is a solid education.

The education experience At-Sunrice comprise of cuisine studies of East & West, Old & New World and Herb & Spices augured by a rigorous Study & Work curriculum.

The faculty is comprised of chefs from ten countries alongside more than 40 visiting Johnson & Wales University (J&W) professors and instructors. Headed by J&W alumni Mizuho Hara, our faculty are food professionals with vast backgrounds ranging from award-winning food authors, Michelin Star experienced chefs, English majors, Magna cum laude graduates, service excellence professionals and executive chefs.

THE STUDENT QUALITY

At-Sunrice enrolls students from more than 25 countries. Our rigorous Study & Work curricular contributes 600,000 man hours annually to the F&B industry.

Our graduate placements happen every year in June at TalentMatch©. As Singapore’s only culinary career fair, our “Best Fit” concept connects five star hotels, fine dining restaurants, global food services and food media to our growing pool of qualified alumnus working in USA, Australia, Shanghai, Dubai and Singapore.

Also in tribute to the industry, At-Sunrice confers an award to outstanding culinary professionals who, in the course of their careers, have displayed technical competency, comprehensive cuisine knowledge and is a mentor to young chefs. Conferred annually during the World Gourmet Summit, there are now 18 outstanding GlobalChef© Award recipients.

THE SINGAPORE EXPERIENCE

Today, Singapore is ranked third in the world for international meetings after Paris and Vienna and retains its first position in Asia – one they’ve held for 24 consecutive years. With BTMICE visitor arrivals totaling 840,000 last year, Singapore’s BTMICE tourism receipts are set to propel to SGD 10.5 billion by 2015.

With more than 20,000 restaurants – including its infamous street food culture – and some of the world’s best hotels, Singapore’s F&B industry alone employs more than 120,000 people, generating close to S$4.4 billion worth of revenue in 2006.

A Singapore education will introduce students and professionals to a unique blend of multiple ethnicities – Chinese, Malays, Indians, Eurasians and the million-strong foreign workforce who co-exist in a social environment of multi-racial harmony in religions, cultures, traditions and cuisines.
