EDUTRUST GUIDELINES
1. What is the Private Education Act? The Private Education Act was gazetted in October 2009 to strengthen the registration framework and enforcement provisions. The Act also provided for the Council for Private Education (CPE) to be set up to oversee the new regulatory regime and promote best practices among private education institutions (PEI) to raise standards in the private education sector over time.
2. What is EduTrust Certification Scheme? The EduTrust certification scheme was formed to regulate, develop and raise quality standards in the private education sector. Please visit CPE's website for more details and information.
3. What is Fee Protection Scheme? The Fee Protection Scheme (FPS) serves to protect students' fees in the event education institution is unable to continue operating due to insolvency, and/or regulatory closure. The FPS also protects if the PEI fails to pay penalties or return fees to the students arising from judgement made against it by the Singapore courts.
The FPS is compulsory for all local and international students enrolled at PEIs seeking EduTrust certification. Under FPS, students are required to pay insurance fees in accordance to the programme enrolled.
The FPS activation: 1 day for cash and cheque or 3 days for telegraphic transfer upon payment of programme fees.
The Academy has appointed Longpac Insurance Bhd for you to be insured under FPS. For more information, please visit CPE's website.
4. Is it compulsory for me to have medical insurance? Yes. All students need to buy medical insurance. The Academy has an insurance package from AXA Insurance Singapore that students must purchase from. Details of compensation:

5. What is the PEI Student Contract? The PEI Student Contract clearly states the fees and policies related to the PEI's programmes. A copy of a PEI Student Contract is available at CPE's website. The Academy's Student Contract is available upon request.
6. What is the Academy's refund/withdrawal/transfer policy? Application fee The Application fee is non-refundable. Refunds will only be made for rejected applications.
Programme fee ACP / WSQ-DCA / WSQ-DIPB / Certificate Programmes: a) 75% of programme fees may be refunded if withdrawal is made more than 45 days before the start of programme. b) 25% of programme fee may be refunded if withdrawal is made within 45 days before the start of programme. c) There is no refund after the programme has started.
Refunds (if any) will be processed within 7 working days from receipt of the Refund Application form (hardcopy) with supporting documents.
Before the start of the programme, students have a right to cancel the contract within a cooling off period of 7 working days after the student contract is signed. After the cooling off period, the refund/withdrawal/transfer policy applies.
Students who wish to withdraw from the programme on/before the start of programme will have to fill out the “Student’s Right to Cancel Agreement” form.
Students who wish to transfer to another programme within the Academy will have to submit a written request. For an approved transfer, the student will be deemed to have withdrawn from the programme. The original signed student contract will be terminated and the student will have to reapply.
7. Besides online payment, what are the other available methods of payment? We accept local cheques and cash for local students; bank drafts and telegraphic transfers for international students. The details are as follows:

Note: No payment should be made by any applicant before PEI student contract is signed.
Fees to be paid: 1. Programme Fee Installment schedule: - All WSQ Diplomas: 3 installments - Advanced Culinary Placement Diploma (ACP): 4 installments Note: Payment for 1st installment of programme fees to be made at least 2 months before the start of programme.

5. Application Fee (Miscellaneous Fees) is due upon submission of application form.
8. What is the minimum class attendance? What happens if I do not meet the minimum attendance? All students are expected to report to class fully prepared and on time. The minimum attendance for each month is strictly 90%. Any absences beyond these are considered excessive and may result in a reduction of your final grade, disciplinary action or expulsion from the programme.

9. Is there a Student Welfare & Support Service? Yes. There is a Student Affairs department who will assist in all students matters.
10. What is the admission process? You are advised to submit your application on-line. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interview/s.
11. Are there any other additional items needed for the diploma programmes? Yes. Knife sets, student uniforms, relevant books and stationery are compulsory items. The Academy will arrange these for you. Payment for these items must be made upon collection. Personal laptops are compulsory.
12. What is the Academy's dispute resolution system?

13. What is the class size? Class size may vary but is capped at maximum of 25 students.
14. Are there any term breaks throughout the programme? a) WSQ-DCA & WSQ-DIPB: Yes, there are week-long term breaks every term. Students may take home-leave if their apprenticeship site permits. b) ACP: There are no term breaks throughout the duration of this programme. Students may not take home-leave during their one-month study at the Academy. They may take home-leave during their 3-month apprenticeship rotations if their apprenticeship site permits.
15. How important is the completion of work rotations at apprenticeship sites?
Study and work rotations are integral to the At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy education. If you are terminated from your apprenticeship site, you will be expelled from the Academy.
16. Can I change my apprenticeship site anytime during the programme?
No, the Academy arranges apprenticeships for the students. They are not allowed to change sites as they are graded on their workplace performance.
17. Can I work part-time during my programme?
Students are not allowed to work anywhere other than your assigned apprenticeship sites.
ALUMNI
18. When will graduation be held? An annual graduation ceremony is held in June, followed by an alumni reception. For alumni queries, please email alumni@at-sunrice.com
19. Will I be guaranteed job placements after graduation? Job placements are not guaranteed. However, we have Career Services to facilitate global job opportunities for our graduates. The Academy also facilitates job placement interviews for students at the annual TalentMatch© culinary career fair. It is still the responsibility of students to actively find their own placement.
