Two deserving young Asian talents attained a kick start to their culinary aspirations last night. South Korea native Kim Ho Joon and Singaporean Brandon Yip Kam Yew were awarded culinary scholarships under the auspices of The Miele - At-Sunrice WSQ Scholarship 2011/2012. Read more...

The Miele Guide awards two young Asian talents with the 2010/2011 culinary scholarships

The Miele Guide Culinary Scholarship Programme enters its third year of nurturing Asian culinary talents with joint sponsorship from Miele, At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy and Singapore Workforce Development Agency.

Continuing its dedication to developing the culinary scene in Asia, The Miele Guide Culinary Scholarship programme accorded two budding Asian chef talents the well-deserved opportunity to take their passion for cuisine to the next level. Under the auspices of The Miele Guide Culinary Scholarship Programme 2010/2011, Filipino Roberto Antonio III Abello was awarded the Miele At-Sunrice scholarship while Singaporean Shaun Lee received the Miele-WSQ-At-Sunrice scholarship. The latter is a scheme created under the Singapore Workforce Development Agency’s Workforce Skills Qualifications Framework. Amidst a select crowd of some of the region’s most celebrated chefs and restaurateurs alongside regional and international food critics and journalists, the recipients were revealed and introduced at The Miele Guide 2010/2011 gala dinner.

CEO of At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy receives 7th International Management Action Award

Acclaimed French Masterchef Christophe Megel is as much an outstanding leader in managing an Academy as he is in helming the heart of a kitchen. The former executive chef of Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore is being recognised by the 7th
 IMAA Awards Council on 15 September at an awards ceremony at Resorts World Sentosa.

Chef Megel now joins 23 past luminaries of exemplary leadership and management qualities. The theme of this year’s award, which will be handed out by Mr Lim Boon Heng, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Guest-of-Honour is “Compassion in Crisis – Caring for Staff and Society in Turbulent Times”. Candidates were selected by industry leaders, academics and key government agencies based on their demonstration of exceptional ability in taking management action to achieve sustainable, tangible results for an organisation, society or nation. New Integrated F&B Campus for At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy

The Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) has appointed At-Sunrice as an Integrated CET Centre, for the culinary and F&B industry. This was announced by Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Minister of State for Trade & Industry and Manpower at the Academy’s annual graduation ceremony today.

The Integrated CET Centre, Singapore’s first for the culinary and F&B industry, will be outfitted with the latest industry-standard, state-of-the-art kitchens, equipment, tools, and software.

“Our mandate to set the standard of excellence in culinary education is further cemented with the upcoming Integrated Centre. We are glad to have WDA’s relentless support and are grateful that they share the same belief in offering uncompromising quality culinary education with world class facilities. I am personally involved in the blue-print of the campus and am looking forward to offering future students with only the best,” said Chef Christophe Megel, CEO of At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy.

The new campus, three times the size of its current Fort Canning Centre venue, is icing on the cake for the Academy as she will be celebrating her 10-year anniversary next year. At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy Receives EduTrust Certification

At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy is one of the first batch of six private education institutions (PEI) to be awarded the new EduTrust certification by the Council for Private Education (CPE).


The EduTrust certification is given to PEIs that have successfully met the standards for six criteria - management commitment and responsibility, corporate governance, student fee protection and support, academic process and assessment of students, quality assurance and monitoring results, and proper management of external recruitment agents.
